Art museum memberships every Houstonian should have

Like Houston’s arts district continues to grow, residents are encouraged to take full advantage of the city’s main institutions. At its most basic level, membership in a museum or arts society provides access to more frequent visits, exclusive freebies, and helps you stay up to date with special exhibitions and programs happening each year in the museums.

Purchasing a membership is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the city’s vibrant arts community and contributes to a more sustainable future for institutions. To help you decide where best to join, we’ve compiled a list of Houston’s most vital arts memberships.

Here are some essential subscriptions to make 2022 your most artistic year yet:

Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

Have you ever visited MFAH and been overwhelmed by its massive multi-building campus? Membership will give you unlimited access to tours and make it easier for you to explore over time. Individual memberships start at $70 (or $40 for students) and include free general admission and parking year-round, plus free/discounted tickets to special exhibits, films, gift shop, museum restaurants, art classes and more. Regardless of size, annual contributions to the MFAH through a tax-deductible membership help support the Museum’s world-class programs and events.

Artists, students, educators, and military with ID can enjoy museum benefits for $50. Individual ($85) and family ($150) subscriptions each offer discounts on online stores and art magazines, as well as early access to events, invitations to exhibition previews, and a exclusive newsletter. The CAMH affinity group, the Collector’s Circle, is the premier membership that ranges from $200 to $2,500 per year.
