The Richmond Bluegrass Jam will return for its eleventh year – after a two-year hiatus due to COVID – on April 30, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. This year’s jam will be held at a new location, at American Legion Post 354 , on the banks of the James River in Midlothian. The event was previously held at the Glen Allen Cultural Arts Center.

The free, family-friendly event features more than 15 of the area’s top bluegrass and Americana bands playing on two stages for nine straight hours, all to raise money for the Richmond Fisher House, a home for families. of veterans and active-duty soldiers recovering at McGuire Veterans Medical Center in Richmond.

Fans are strongly encouraged to make tax-deductible donations to the Richmond Fisher House at the event or online at rvabluegrassjam.com. Over the past ten years, the event has raised over $184,000 for military families, men and women.

The bands, all playing for free in support of Fisher House, include Commonwealth Bluegrass Band, Big Boss Combo, Cook County Bluegrass, Tara Mills Band, Cary Street Ramblers, River City Band, Slack Family Bluegrass Band, and more.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the eleventh annual Richmond Bluegrass Jam, especially after missing the past two years due to COVID,” says Tim Gundlach, President of RVA Bluegrass Jam, Inc., the event organizer. “We owe our military families so much, and this is one way to give back by supporting the great work of Fisher House. We are also excited to bring the Jam to our new location at American Legion Post 354. This will further connect this important event to our military community.

In addition to listening to scheduled bands, attendees are encouraged to bring their own instruments. Several open jam areas will be available, as well as an instrument control station.
