Excellent exhibit at the Boca Raton Art Museum
“Foreign art” is a term that loosely applies to works created by artists who are not formally trained or, in some cases, self-taught. This genre of work has been celebrated by museums for decades as a distinct but complementary contrast to the fine art we all know and love. On display until September 5, the Boca Raton Museum of Art celebrates the State of the Sun’s version of art brut during its exhibition “An irresistible urge to create: the collection of art brut of the Monroe family of the Monroe family ”.
