Discovery Museum announces its programs

Discovery Museum is located at 177 Main St., Acton. All programs are free with admission, unless otherwise stated. Advance reservations are required to visit the museum due to COVID safety protocols. Visit http://discoveryacton.org for hours, COVID safety protocols and to make reservations. Some outdoor programs may be weather dependent.

TINKER TUESDAY: Open Studio: Drop in 9:30-11 am Explore the possibilities of reusing what we usually throw away. What kind of treasure can you create from repurposed recyclables? The Tinker Tuesday series of programs nurtures creativity, problem solving, and STEAM concepts through experimentation, design, and invention.

MAKE A MESS: Explore Kinetic Sand: Meet 9:30-11:00 a.m. Crush it, carve it, drain it and more! Discover the unique properties of this special material as you play, create and experiment using your hands and a few simple tools.

MAKE A MESS: A FanFare of Colors! : Meet 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Outdoors in Discovery Woods. Portable fans are a great way to cool off from the summer heat! Create a colorful fan using a fun all over body painting technique with sprays and watercolors.

READY, READY, BALANCED! : Appointment from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Let’s play with the scientific concept of balance! Explore several different stations where you can test what makes objects stay put or topple over, and feel the balance in your body as you try movement challenges.

TAKE APARTS JR.: Drop in 9:30-11 am Are you curious about what’s inside everyday electronics? Grab a few tools and learn about resistors, capacitors, gears and more as you learn about the inner workings of household gadgets and gadgets.

CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY: Meet 9:30-11 a.m. Join us to create special cards and designs to share with our friends, near and far, in preparation for International Friendship Day celebrated on July 30. Designated by the United Nations General Assembly (UN), the International Day of Friendship gives us an opportunity to be grateful for relationships around the world as they promote and encourage peace, happiness and unity by encouraging a global commitment and understanding of diversity and inclusion.
