Join the Discovery Museum for Community Day
Join the Discovery Museum for free admission on Community Day, a thank you to the community as the children’s museum celebrates its 40th anniversary.
The festivities start by making noisemakers. Afterwards, attendees can take part in a celebratory parade at their cake-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., led by a special guest from the Maynard Public Library.
Fans of the event can also watch a performance of “Dhol-Tasha-Lezim”, a folk art form of “twin-headed drumming and dancing” originating in Maharashtra, a state on the west coast of India. India. This is often performed during celebrations and always performed in groups, to engage the whole community.
Throughout the day, participants can try their hand at some classic Discovery Museum activities such as Balls & Ramps, Cup Towers, and a “Discovery Quest” scavenger hunt, among others.
Admission will be free all day, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Advance reservations are required to visit and can be made 10 days in advance.
Adverse weather conditions may lead to modifications or cancellation of certain activities.
