St. Pete’s History Museum to Host ‘Pride Perspective’ Panel Next Week | Events and Movies | Tampa
Pride month is nearly over, and the St. Petersburg History Museum is ready to offer some perspective.
The Museum’s Pride Perspective: Past and Future will take place on Tuesday, June 28 and will be hosted by Jim Nixon, St. Pete’s LGBTQ+ Liaison.
The event will feature four panelists: Brian Longstreth, co-founder of St. Pete Pride; Rocky Butler, founder and president of the non-profit initiative 9 Colors; Dr. Karen L. Reese, chiropractic physician and former board member of the Tampa Bay Business Guild; and Rasheeda Johnson, trans services navigator at Metro Inclusive Health.
The program begins at 6:00 p.m. at the History Museum located on St. Pete’s Pier. Admission is a suggested $5 donation and a full service cash bar will be provided.
St. Pete held its first Pride event in 2003 and has since proclaimed June St. Petersburg Pride Month in the city. It has become one of the largest celebrations in the state, with events and programs held throughout the month. The History Museum seeks to celebrate the city’s deep-rooted history of pride with the sign.
The museum is also looking for physical objects, personal testimonies or interviews related to LGBTQ+ experiences to include in its archives and collections.
