The history museum will host a “museum market” for holiday shopping
HARBOR SPRINGS – To help stimulate local shopping for the holiday season, the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society will be hosting two upcoming Holiday Markets.
The markets will take place over two days – the first on Tuesday, November 23 and the second on Saturday, December 18 – giving shoppers two different times to get holiday gifts for their friends, family and maybe even themselves.
“It will be up to the vendors to decide what they bring, but it will be more of a holiday, craft and food market as the typical markets are more product-oriented,” said Beth Wemigwase, program coordinator. of the museum.
The idea for upcoming markets at the museum came from the Harbor Springs Farmers’ Market itself, as vendors traditionally find a vendor inside to host the market during the winter.
âThe market master came to us and asked if we would be interested in hosting the market inside the museum,â Wemigwase said. “We thought it would be a great collaboration and together we have organized two kinds of holiday markets which will be held before Thanksgiving and before Christmas.”
Vendors who have registered so far to participate in the museum’s two upcoming markets include Black Barn Farm, Dutch Oven Bakery, Village Grown, Tootsie Bluffins, Spoonful of Granola, The Cheese Lady, Open Sky Organic Farm, Laurita’s Empanadas, Gregory’s Farm, Ewenique Designs and Ziibimijwang Farm.
“I love the farmers market and it usually and unfortunately happens when I work so having it in my workplace is fantastic for me personally. I really look forward to one of the vendors who sell cupcakes.” , says Wemigwase.
âHowever, I really can’t wait to see people come and support the market and the museum while doing local shopping and helping and supporting our local farmers and artisans,â she said.
The next two markets will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 18. Both markets and all participating vendors will be set up inside the museum, also offering buyers a chance to view the museum’s current exhibits.
The Harbor Springs Area Historical Society is located at 349 E. Main St. in downtown Harbor Springs. More information on upcoming markets at the museum can also be found on the museum’s website at www.harborspringshistory.org.
