Turner’s Modern World Exhibition will explore Turner’s lifelong interest in the inventions, events, politics, society, culture and science of his time. These elements allowed him to illustrate some of his most original works and to transform his style of painting. Turner, who was born at the end of the 18th century, has witnessed various technological innovations and the industrialization of modern life. Turner illustrated stories with his skillful brushstroke. In his later years he surpassed other artists in combining his contemporary subjects with a very innovative style. This particular achievement allowed him to be recognized as one of the founders of modern art.
